Looking after your plot
- Cultivate at least two thirds of your plot (ie grow vegetables, not just dig over or cover with plastic).
- Keep the plot in good order and condition.
- Keep paths strimmed
(Have a look at Rules & Regulations which should be able to help you)
Numbering your plot
Will all plot holders please number their plots, it doesn't have to be anything fancy just to make life easier.
Fire
Please make sure that all fires are put out before leaving your plot. There is a fire extinguisher that is always kept at the hut. It is a condition of our insurance that the following precautions are taken in respect of bonfires or other burning of debris: (i) fires are to be in a cleared area at a distance of at least 10 metres from any property; (ii) fires are not to be unattended at any time; (iii) fires are to be extinguished at least one hour prior to leaving the site. The burning of plastic and other noxious materials is forbidden.
Children
We love having children up at the allotment but some children are using it as a playground while the parents are working. Children are welcome in the company of a responsible adult but should not be allowed to stray on to other people’s plots or cause a nuisance by noise or using the place to run around. The allotment is not a playground and being aware of other plot-holders is crucial to a harmonious environment.
Wood chippings
With all this wet weather the paths have become incredibly muddy with constant use. If this is true to a path near you a wheel barrow of wood chippings would make life a lot easier for you and your neighbours.
