Self-catering holiday cabin, Argyll
Orchy is a simple but well-equipped Scandinavian-style cabin, at Dalavich on Loch Awe. It sits in the lush green countryside of Lorne in the west highlands of Scotland. It sleeps 5 comfortably in one double bedroom and a second bedroom with 3 full-sized bunks. There is also a raised sleeping platform. The cabins are well-spread out in the forest; Orchy has 0.7acres round it and isn't overlooked at all.

Dalavich is a beautiful location on Loch Awe side. Cross the road to walk in oak and birch conservation forest or stroll along the loch side. Hire a bike in the village, or bring your own, and experience scenic forest and loch cycle routes. Forest and hill walks for all fitness levels. If you are quiet you might see a red squirrel.

Cabin has fishing rights from loch side within the cabin site, or to fish the loch, hire a boat and buy a pass. The cabin has mooring rights so you can bring your own small boat. Very isolated location, but cheerful community centre with bar, restaurant and laundrette. Dalavich village has a cafe/shop with probably the biggest Sunday brunch in Scotland. Local shops in Tainault, 30 minutes away, and 50 minutes to Oban for shopping, distillery visits, ferries to Mull, Iona and other islands for day trips. Drive to historic Kilmartin Glen, Glencoe and the mountains.

£330 a week in June, July, August and first two weeks of September; bookings Saturday to Saturday. Short autumn and winter breaks available, £180 from Friday to Monday. 10% discount for all Grange Lane allotment holders.
